Team Bride

So, this week I asked my friends/sister to be by my side on my wedding day. How did I do it, you ask? Although I would have liked to do it in person, I don't live that close to a few of them, plus one of them just got married and I was (impatiently) waiting for after her big day to ask my ladies, so, I sent them a card (I mean, who doesn't love getting mail?). I had jumped the gun on one of my bridesmaids, so she got a handwritten note (and since I'm not artsy it was, unfortunately, way less cute than these). The rest of the ladies got the cards below with a personal note inside.

You like? I created them at my all time (new) favorite site, Tiny Prints. I also loved the fact that the ladies were all (sort of) surprised by the card.

ps. does anyone have a 2 person bike? ;) Because I definitely need one after this photo....

Catching up...

Clearly, I'm lazy about uploading my pictures from this past weekend but since then, we haven't made much progress. We have,  however, been at Home Depot every night (where they're putting in a TJ Maxx, color me excited!) buying and exchanging wood to finish up the sub floor. Today we have a plumber coming in to survey the disaster pipes and give us a quote on how much it will cost to move them all, and I mean ALL. Ryan also has our design pretty much done (thanks to the Ikea design program) which makes me very excited. We've only had one incident with the dumpster (we won't mention how the incident had my lovely husband-to-be screaming out the window at midnight to two guys who were illegally dumping and then running after them) and we've managed to not have to get any take out yet, thanks to the slow cooker (currently cooking our jambalaya). I think that alone is a win on our part. So all is well in the Tkaires household.

In my free time, I started playing around with inspirations boards on project wedding and this is one of my favorites. It has the grey bridesmaid dresses, the anti-strapless wedding dress and the flowers that I want and I love how it all looks together.

The outdoor wedding picture is the actual spot where we will be getting married (as long as there's no rain).
You like? I've been such a proponent of a non strapless wedding gown that I'm curious to see if that stance stays once I try some on....

Style my ladies

Speaking of grey, guess what I'm thinking for wedding colors? Yep, you thought right, grey. Well, not just grey, grey with lavenders and greens. My BFF/ bridesmaid sent me this wedding after I had already fallen in love with the idea of hydrangeas and I was sold.

And since the wedding is (next) August, I'm hoping the grey won't wash anyone out/ you have 18 months to get tan, ladies ; )

This is exactly what I want my centerpieces to look like, well maybe a little shorter.

I also love this style bridesmaid dress... and since I don't really want to wear a strapless dress, I won't be putting my ladies in strapless dresses (Elena, you can thank me now).

When I asked Ryan what he thought of grey, green and purple he said "that's a lot of colors for one room" (which, actually it isn't but he would never understand) but when I told him I was talking about the wedding and not the guest room he responded with, "the wedding is your thing, I don't even see colors." So, once again, grey it is!

Let the planning begin

So, even though Ryan told me I shouldn't start planning the wedding for two weeks, obviously that wasn't going to happen. I mean, we have been dating for (over) seven years and I've been to about thirty weddings at this point so I already had some ideas (that's an under statement). And even though we're having a long engagement (I think the wedding countdown said something like 577 days) I still wanted to make sure I had the perfect photographer. I figure the rest will fall in to place over the next year and a half (while we're renovating the house, attending grad school, volunteering and wedding planning- we aren't busy or anything).

So the morning after we got engaged I immediately emailed the photographer of my dreams, Tony Hoffer. Ryan's lucky that I didn't call Tony right after I said yes, I'm that obsessed with him. And with pictures like this, who wouldn't be?

So I'm pretty much picking our date based on his schedule (that and my grad school breaks) which leads to our year and a half engagement. Some may think I'm crazy but I'm excited to have so much time to sit back and plan one thing at a time. What's the rush? I'm already the luckiest girl in the world : )
