Home Stretch

We are in the home stretch for the wedding so we've been trying to get both house and wedding things done before the whirlwind that is the next month and a half occurs... #whendidJulyhappen?!

I have been wanting to switch up the pillows on our couch for awhile so Saturday morning, instead of studying for my two finals, I sewed up some new pillow cases. Note to self: Taking two classes a month before your wedding is not a good idea. Lesson learned.

Before

After!
A close up of the beauties...

Here's to hoping they look good with the new couch ;)

While I was sewing pillows, Ryan finished the threshold that leads to our back patio. We had gotten a shorter door than the original door for the back door so that it would actually close smoothly so, there had been a gap just wasting our air conditioning away ;) Problem solved.

We also had my sister and her family down on Saturday and she finished the blackboards for the wedding.

One more thing off the to do list. Check!

Sunday while I was out spending money on a few more updates, Ryan cleaned up our junk yard that had been the side of the house and finished the brick arch that had been bare for quite some time.

Now we can finally finish painting the last wall in the backroom and get the new lights up!

While he was busy at that monster of a project, I managed to get drawn to a clock at Pottery Barn and our family room went from this:

To this...

I'm pretty much in love with her.

Swoon... I had been looking at clocks online but when I saw this guy in the store, I knew it was meant to be.

Only three more weekends left to go... #panicmodestartsnow

Wedding Planning is Rough

For the Monk...

I may or may not have bought out all of the Cupcake Chardonnay and Smoking Loon Pinot Noir at Safeway, I hope you weren't planning on picking some up ;)

Bling Bling

Don't you love when you walk in to a store for one item and find yourself completely drawn to another? Today I headed to TJ Maxx for some baskets and frames for the wedding and I fell in love with these beauties.

New lamps!
I held back on some of their other steals but I could not leave the store without two of these guys. I love how  they're mirrored but not over the top... plus, I've been dying for some lamps for the family room. I'm not a huge fan of overhead lights (unless it's a chandelier) so we had been using a floor lamp that I was less than thrilled with. Beauty and function? Yes, please!

Loving City Living

Reason #1,124,342,342 why I love living in the city: underground power lines i.e. not losing power when the weather is hovering around 100 degrees. This weekend was a hot one and the storm that rolled through Friday left a trail of destruction including a loss of power out in the suburbs... luckily, we don't live in the suburbs but we did head out there to go furniture shopping on Saturday... in the dark. In all fairness, we didn't know that the furniture store didn't have power but when we got there and all the lights were out, it soon became obvious :) Low and behold we still managed to find a couch and two chairs that will be perfect for the family room.... color me excited. And although it will take 8 to 10 weeks to show you what they really look like, here's a sneak peak of the fabrics I chose.

The linen will be the couch and the blue will be the two chairs.

Ryan also started to build a work bench for the basement and try to organize the disaster zone that had become his work area.

And I worked on a few wedding crafts, including taking my sewing machine for a spin :)

Oh weekends, how I love thee.
