Who needs TV?

Me: "I really miss HGTV"
Ryan: "Seriously? You're living it."
Point taken... and I was in deed living all three of my favorite shows at once.

The next few days we spent touching up paint, installing electrical outlets and getting the room ready for the big move.

Clearly, Ryan still hadn't installed the outlet in the floor in this picture.

And the radiator is still missing,.

But isn't it gorgeous?
We were FINALLY ready to move our furniture in to the bedroom! It was a good day, no, it was a GREAT day. Never underestimate the excitement of getting to sleep in a room where you can actually shut the door.

Help!

Bright and early Sunday morning, Ryan and I were up working on the trim. Well, Ryan was working on the trim and I was cooking, moral support counts. I was actually cooking for some of my family who were due to arrive later in the morning so that definitely counts (especially since I'm the one writing the blog!).

My Dad arrived and started to help Ryan install the cut trim.

Mistake #7: Prep the walls before you start installing trim in a 100 year old house.

Apparently, back in the day, they didn't attach the trim to 2x4's so, when we ripped out the old trim, there was nothing to attach the new trim to. Awesome. So my Dad and Ryan had to figure out a way to glue pieces of wood to the brick so that they could attach the molding to something. Set back number fifty million and one.

At this point, my sister and brother in law have showed up and Ryan had discovered that he needed a few more supplies. So while Kevin and Ryan head to the store, my sister and Dad put together our awesome new chiminea. Yay!

Ryan and Kevo continued to work on the trim ALLLLLL day, while Elena and I provided moral support. Elena and I did actually manage to paint the closet and then she managed to step in the paint and track it all over the floor. Two steps forward, one step back ; )

I don't know what we would have done without the help, actually I do, we would still be sleeping in the family room so a big THANK YOU to all of our helping hands! Moral supports counts :)

High Gloss, High Style

After a fun night over at Maria's and Dave's, we started the new year right... with a trim project. Ryan had bought most of the trim when we had the moving truck but he had gotten the wrong design for the top pieces and we still had to buy the bottom pieces. So, New Years day, entirely too early, we headed over to Home Depot to rent a large saw and to pick up the rest of the trim. 12' Trim in a mini = clown car.

We figured we would spend the day getting the molding up so when my Dad, sister and BIL came to visit the next day, they could help with the insulation and moving our furniture in to the bedroom. That did not happen.

We started off good, I painted all the trim in a high gloss white while Ryan worked on cutting the baseboards. Trying to get the cuts so that all the boards fit, in a quirky old house, is not that easy.

That on top of the 3-D electrical outlets and Ryan spent the majority of the day cutting the boards and re-wiring and re-running the electric in the room so you can't see all the wires.

Mistake #6: Nothing is as easy as you think it's going to be in a house and nothing will take you the amount of time that you think it's going to take you.
Playing with electricity
Although we didn't get everything done we wanted to, we had definitely made progress. And, at this point, that's something.
